Why is Africa a warm continent?


The equator runs across the middle of Africa and about ninety per cent of its area lives within the tropics. The temperature of the continent remains very high all the year round because sun rays fall directly over it.
There is little difference between summer and winter. Africa has Sahara Desert, which is one of the hottest places in the world.


Where do Bushmen Live?

Bushmen are tribal people of  Africa. They roam about the kalahari desert where there is little water and few trees. Bushmen are very skilled hunters and trackers.
They feed on insects, roots and berries. They can find underground drinking water in roots and wet sand. The living conditions are very harsh and temperature is very high. Any person other than Bushmen cannot survive there and would die of thirst and hunger.
With changing times, Bushmen too are giving up their life-style and joining the mainstream.


Who are the Tuaregs?


The Tuaregs are the desert nomads of northern Africa. They wander from the place with their animals and know where to find food and water. The most amazing thing about Tuaregs is that the males, and not the females, of this tribe cover their faces with veils.

The Tuaregs are berbers and inhabited africa long before Arbas came in. They are Muslims. They were once considered very fierce because they raided many parts of the Sahara.
Like other tribes, most of the Turaegs are leaving their ild desert life.

The Maldives are a chain of low-lying coral Islands, situated in the south-west of India in the Indian ocean. Although the country is made of 2,000 Islands, Only 200 are big enough for people to live in. The total area of the country is only 298 sq km and it has a population of 226000. The climate is damp and hot with heavy rainfull.
Most of the people make their living by fishing. The Islands became a British protectorate in 1887 and gained complete independence in 1965.

The huge area of Siberia's unspoilt habitat is largely undeveloped and home to many animals. lake Baikal has many species of animals that are not found anywhere else in the world including the world's only freshwater seal.
